Fireplace candelabra, place the birch trunk on a work surface. Measure the record with a tape measure and mark it at 2, 6, 12 and 20 inches from one end with a pencil. Place the birch log horizontally on a miter saw. Cut the log into each pencil mark pulling the trigger and guide the saw through the log. Lift the saw back to the start button and release trigger to complete each cut. Now you have a 2 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches and 8 inch section of registration. Discard the piece.
